Struck by Lightning: Uranus, Shock, Terror & Ecstasy
This talk explores “shock” as a lived territory rather than simply a keyword of Uranian experience. In this talk we explore archetypes and myths connected to lightning - including Uranus, Semele (a mortal priestess of Zeus & mother of Dionysus), and the I Ching Hexagram 51 (double thunder). You will notice in films it is a common motif for a lightning storm to be present when a character’s life changes forever or a character is given strange supernatural powers. Shock and lightning can be traumatic, or it can be the gateway (with integration) to a new and more powerful life. A bigger hurdle with lightning is when it gets stuck in the body (stuck energy as a form of trauma) but when the current is integrated, change happens, and terror turns to ecstasy.
